Bringing a Little Summer Into Scrapping

UKS challenge this week has been set by the SAS Scrappers and they've given us:

10 pts for using the sketch

5 pts for circle

5 pts for use of Boolean things ((),*,&,^,"",{},[], AND, OR, and so on and so forth)

5 pts for summer colours

5 pts for unusual journalling



Here's my take on this:

Sketch ~ turned round 90 degrees

Circle ~ cut with scallop scissors

Boolean ~ { } used on the journalling strip and " " used on the title

Summer colours ~ this is brighter IRL

Unusual journalling ~ I've spiralled it to echo the top of the swingball


The journalling reads "Everyone loves swingball. So much so, that the children that come round don't get a go".

I've used green Bazzil card, papers are all from a Papermania pack, the blue flower is from the Wings and Flowers CD-Rom and available from Charmed, floral and yellow ribbon is from the dumper bin at a local haberdashery.

Hippie Anniversary

Anyone would think I like the Dottie & George images wouldn't they? Well, they'd be so wrong. I LUUUUUUUUURVE them.

So much so, that when Karen on 3C's reminded us about the June card sketch challenge she gave us, I immediately looked at the pre-coloured images I printed out on Sunday to decide which one to use. One??? Only one??? Take a look at the sketch again Sarah, there's room for 2!

I had Hippie Dottie & Hippie George available, so went with those, but I still had no idea what else I was going to do on the card. After deliberating, I flipped the paper over that I'd printed the sketch on and traced it on the reverse to give me a different take on it. Still not happy, I turned my paper upside down. Hmmm......... could that work? Probably.

I hunted for the right papers and remembered I had a Papermania pack with funky patterns in it. Flicking through about 170 papers is not an easy feat, but I got there and decided to go for the same pattern in 3 different colours. We are talking the 60's so psychedelic works I think. I also found my bright floral ribbon that I got in a dumper bin at a local haberdashery store (go check out yours, you may be surprised what you can pick up for pennies).

The red buttons (that I've stitched on) came off a jacket I used to have to wear for work eons ago, smiley and floral buttons are Dress It Up and were from Charmed. I printed the greeting out onto vellum and did it in a circly way inspired by a tutorial from Charmed.

The card's made in time for an anniversary in just over a week. All I've got to do is remember where I put it.

Friends Together

Last September my really great friend Tee (who I never mention on here do I LOL) and I met for the first time at the Bury Craft Extravaganza. Tee came with her friend and workmate Maggie. Within minutes, we were all having such a ball chatting, laughing and; of course, craft shopping. So, when UKScrappers had a challenge to do a LO on the theme of Friendship, I just had to use pictures from that day.

The requirements for this challenge were:

1) LO on the theme of Friendship

2) Scraplift the LO of a friend or your favourite idea or book author, remember to give credit to the original - provide a link if it's in the UKS Gallery! (If you have a LO in your Faves you'd like to scraplift, PM the scrapper and make friends!)

3) Include one or more Circles, to represent the circle of friendship, never ending/continuous friendship

4) Include something Metal on your LO, to symbolise old (Gold) and new (Silver) friends

2) The LO was one that Karen, another friend and owner of Charmed Cards and Crafts shop and Charmed forum had done. I'm sure she won't mind me 'lifting' it.
