Jewellery

I've had a go at making a bracelet and matching ear-rings for a present. I went to a jewellery making demo on Saturday and she showed us 'memory wire'. So, I thought I'd have a go. Little did I know it would take me 40 minutes to glue the tiny silver beads on the ends! Am I patient enough to try again another day and see if I can get it down to half an hour? Watch this space LO

I used tiny beads and tubular ones in pale pink and brighter pink wooden ones for the bracelet and omitted the wooden ones on the ear-rings. Would I wear them? If I could wear silver and they weren't a present, I do believe I just might. Wonder if I can get jewellery bits in 9ct gold? Anyone know?

New Baby Crafting

Here's the card, exploding box and high chair I made for my sister's family to welcome baby Kieran into our fold.

Handcut lettering, die-cut shrink paper rattle, plastic shoe and flock covered hand and foot brads
I forgot to take pictures of the box before I assembled it, so here's a couple. I used peel-offs and stamps on the outside layer and dome stickers and silver embossed shapes for the backs of the 2 inner layers. I left the fronts of each layer blank so that 12 photos of Kieran could be added (maybe 1 a month for the first year?). I put ribbon round the lid and covered the join with a flock covered hand brad and glued some tiny shoes to the inside base.

This is my first attempt at making one of these highchairs. I've used cream card and added acetate windows to the box. The chair has blue edged ribbon, tiny blue shoes and a little dog added. I'm quite pleased with the results too.

Thank You

Thank you so much Debz for my award. It means so much to me. I'm so pleased that my ramblings can bring joy to people. When I first started this blog, I didn't think I'd have much to say or much crafting to show you. For anyone else thinking the same about themselves, have a go. You may surprise yourself with the goings on in your life and with your crafting or other hobby. People love to hear about other people. Take a look at the shelves in the newsagents at all the magazines devoted to reader's and celebrity's stories if you don't believe me!

So, thanks again for my award Debz. I'm pleased and proud to put it on my blog and to pass it on to those I've named next to it. I love to visit these blogs and they haven't already got one of these and should. You all give me so much inspiration for my own crafting :-)

Tee - Love to visit your blog to see what you've done. You're very clever and artistic and inspire me in all walks of life. Love our chats too.
Joani - Love all the different styles in your crafting. I never know what I'm going to see next!
Mellie - Your blog's fab. You really should blog more often though as you have so much talent to show us all.
Lisa - Love everything about your blog. You are so talented.
Juliet - What can I say, but WOW. You are one very talented lady and should get your work published. You are amazing and not just in your crafting, but in life too. (I just went to let you know and you've been tagged by Lou, but not put the award on your blog, so I tag you anyway cos I think you're amazing too!)
Lea - You sure have made a great start to your blog. I love the autumn picture and wish I was there right now.

Very Special Delivery

It doesn't take Einstein to work out that I have some happy news for you all or what it is! My sister had her baby last night, so I now have 2 nephews and 1 niece. Mum and son are absolutely fine and were home within 4 hours. He was a healthy 9lb and they've called him Kieran. I even got a cuddle last night as I was there. Had one today too.

I know I'm biased, but to all of us here he is just the:
I did take a couple of photos last night, but for one thing, I left my camera at Mum's where I stayed for the night. Plus (understandably) Andrea doesn't like photos of her children posted on the internet, so I'm really sorry but there won't be any on here. In her own words "I don't like the idea of just anyone being able to look at them or download them. In today's world it's not safe or nice with some of the sort of people you get out there". I must admit, I have to agree, but it means that I can't show him off to you all.

Love and hugs xxx

The End Of The Week

Thought I'd pop on and say hi to you all tonight. I've no crafting to show you as it's all 'a work in progress', so this is a little update on the happenings of the real me as opposed to the crafty me.

I've been and had my hair cut and coloured today. Haven't got a piccie to show you, but will get one taken soon. My sister usually does it, but she's within a day of having her new baby (tell you about that in a mo) and needed the rest. So, after being inspired by the BBC3 programme Spendaholics, I did a ring around and found a salon that does FREE cut and blow dry's and half price colours with a junior stylist. My stylist was fab. No-one would think she was a junior. I felt truly pampered and was even offered a glass of wine. Couldn't have it though as I was driving home afterwards. Something to remember for another time - get me a chauffeur so I can have a glass.
My sister (not the one in Birmingham on the course), is 39 and a half weeks pregnant as I write this. She's been told her baby's looking a little large, so she's going in to hospital this Friday evening to be induced. I'm going to stay at hers to be with her other 2 while she and her partner are busy. Wonder if any of us'll get any sleep? So, I should have a new nephew or niece over the week-end. Will blog and let you all know when I know. I've bought craft things in blue and pink, so I'm prepared for whichever she has LOL
Thank you all for popping by so regularly and listening to the news and antics of this mad crafter. I try to reply to as many of you as I can, but some of you have your e-mail addy's kept secret which means I can't. I totally understand your reasons for that, but I just wanted you all to know that I greatly appreciate each and every comment you leave me and for taking time out from your busy schedules to read my blog. Next post I should have baby news to bore you all with! Hope you are all well and have a great week-end. xxx

How's This For Speed?

It was Juliet's turn to set the monthly fun challenge on the 3C's yesterday. I've surprised myself at how quick I was to complete them. She set a 2 parter and the challenges were:

1) Alter a food container into something useful. Could be a coffee jar, tin, take away carton, pizza box -anything which you can recycle into something useful, but its original purpose must have been to hold food.

Extra points were given if we included hand doodling. Here's mine. I used a tub that had cheese footballs in that you get at Christmas. I covered the outside with pearlised lilac paper and lined the top of the lid the same. I die-cut the words, outlined them with purple pen and added chipboard flowers using hand doodling to join them all. On the top, I put a purple flower and brad I'd been sent by one of my 3C buddies when we did a secret stash swap last year. I loved it so much I didn't want to part with it, so using it like this means I get to keep it!

2) Well it had to be a Valentines card didn't it? I know some of you have already made one, but make him another - you know he's worth it!! The card must include the word 'love' and must have at least one heart on it.

Extra points were given for using real stitching (hand or machine stitching) and for including a bird. On mine I used pink pearlised paper, lilac ribbon with purple hand stitching, Google image of birds in the shape of a heart and die-cut lettering.

I've Been Tagged

Thanks to Debbie, I've been tagged!

Here are the rules:- You must post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details.

Love chatting to my on-line crafty friends
Orange is my favourite jelly flavour
Unemployed at the moment
I love music
Scrapbooking should be done more often by me
Enchilladas are my favourite Mexican dish

Ok, now who to tag? I've only 3 that fit in with my name and one's already been tagged, by someone else. So have some of my other friends. I've tagged one person for every letter and here's hoping that they haven't been before:

Mellie
Marlou
Tee
Lisa
Dawn
Pinky

Card Box

I finally decided what to do for my step-mum-in-law's birthday. I made this box and filled it with a mix of cards I'd made. Ellison Tootsie alphabet was used for the wording on pearlised lilac paper and the flowers are made of handmade paper. The detailing on the box is embossed and chalked in purple.

Thanks for looking. Take care until we meet again. Luv 'n' hugs as always xx

Thinking Of You

Here's a thinking of you card I made for my youngest sister. She's hurt her back and is hoping that it rights itself without the need for an operation. If you're reading this Jo, hope you get back up and running very soon.

I used shrink plastic to make the embellishment and phone charm. The 'Thinking of You' embossing was done on my Tag-Along and I can't remember where the paper's from. Pink's her favourite colour so I hope she likes it all.

Thought you guys might like a change from seeing mainly craft on here, so here's a squirrel and frog that decided to pay us a visit
