Indigo Mills Kit Competition

Indigo Mills set everyone a very interesting competition. Here's what they said:

"Our competition for you is to show us just how many projects you can create from one collection pack.... using the odd extra embellishment here and there, and of course your basic tool kit, how much can you really get from one kit? (No limit on plain cardstock!!!! It's a necessity and a way of life!)) Lets see just how good the value for money is."

I bought My Mind's Eye Garden Party Kit (£6.65) and wanted to see what I could do with that and minimal items from my stash. Here's what else I used:

Bazzill, SafMat, scrap card for journalling, cream card for the card bases and bookmarks, a little ribbon, a couple of brads, some stickles, a chipboard '2', journalling pens, brush marker, brown ink pad, magnetic sheet and used my Tag-a-Long to cut some letters (although I considered cutting by hand or writing them all). I used nearly all the PPs (have small scraps left now) including the small strips of designs on the cover slip that was in the kit and all the die-cuts. The 'sucking lemons & blowing bubbles' words were cut from the cover slip and scraps of the PP, but I used the reverse sides to get white letters. I even used the bottom strips from the PP as they had a gorgeous brown pattern on them and two of the 'EYE' words from the strips on my 'EYE 2 EYE' LO. Nothing goes to waste around here LOL

Here's what I did with it:

1) Maze Book (3 photos)
2) LO - we love uncle david
3) LO - lasagne
4) LO - sucking lemons and blowing bubbles
5) LO - shopping
6) LO - EYE 2 EYE
7) LO - What a View
8) LO - decisions decisions ...
9) LO - Scotland Lake
10) Card - Thank You
11) Card - Thank You
12) Card - With Love
13) & 14) Bookmarks (2nd photo shows magnetic bookmark opened)

I loved working with it so much that I've bought 2 more kits to take with me when I go to my Mum's to dog-sit in just over a week.

Thanks for looking and getting to the end of this long post

secret journalling ~ tag behind the photo
ribbons ~ on the tag

Dottie Over Buttons and Beads

Adele's turn to set the challegne on the new look Dottie's World. She has decided to challenge us to use either buttons or beads on our crafting, along with at least one Charmed download.

I decided to make a tag using Madison - Oh La La! My plan was to have three of the heart charm/wooden bead ribbons at the bottom, but it didn't work, so I felt I'd cheated a little by only adding one bead.

I then made a card using Madison 3-in-1 gift and added a pair of beaded earrings I made plus tiny beads to the bloom.

Both images have been printed onto watercolour card and painted with watercolour paints.

How Lucky Am I?

I made this card last week for my sister and it's made us both winners. She gets the card and I won a Crafter's Companion Vintage Life CD-Rom from One Stop Card Crafts for my effort, as I entered it into their 'tag it!' challenge. Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to the postie arriving now :D

Twice as Nice

Adele set the weekly Dottie's World challenge on Sunday and said:

Twice as Nice.......

I would like you to use two or more charmed downloads on your creations this week. You can mix and match, duplicate an image, re-size, whatever you fancy but I need to see two or more images.

One of my sisters has a birthday next week, so I decided to make her a tri-fold card. I used 3 images from the Holly and Madison World Tour collection and my Prismacolour pencils.

Holly in Spain is a tag (for One Stop Craft's Tag It challenge). It's held in an acetate pocket edged with ribbon, so it can be used as a bookmark.

The wording inside the card reads "On your birthday and every day, may your dreams take you to the places your heart desires". Wonder where she'll choose?

Thanks for looking.

Another catch-up - UKS Whodunnit Cybercrop

UKScrappers have a cybercrop week-end on the 6th, 7th and 8th February. To warm us up, we've been given a pre-crop LO challenge and daily challenges. Each daily challenge earns us a doughnut which we've been told we get to eat at the end LOL

Doughnut (yummy!)
I'm in the Lady Julia Grey Special Branch team

So far, there's been 8 daily challenges (excluding today's) and here's my daily crafting

Day 1 - make a bookmark

Day 2 - fingerprint and interrogate someone

Day 3 - Construct a 'usual suspects' LO using yesterday's evidence

Day 4 - Make a tag

showing hidden compartment

Day 5 - Decorate a bag

Day 6 - Use mini-doughnuts (eyelets) to make an embellishment

Day 7 - Prepare some interrogation questions for a teamie
(this was done completely digi)

Day 8 - Use spray mist or spray ink on a layout

I've been having great fun with this cybercrop and getting to know some of the other detectives on my team. I can hardly wait for the week-end's crop to come round. Prior notice, I will be away from here that week-end, but will be back to catch -up with you all and to show you what I get up to.

Love and hugs,

And Also ............

Nicola set the Sunday challenge on Dottie's Wonderful World. She said:

AND ALSO......I would like you to make a card or something,which of course is using a download/s from Charmed Cards AND ALSO.....something which can be removed from it,such as a tag,bookmark,notelets

~~~~~~~~~~~
Lizzie set the latest challenge on 3C's and we had to make a card, LO and ATC using a sketch and added extra(s) of her choosing. For the card we had to add glitter and embossing.
I chose to combine these challenges and here's my take on them:
Dottie's World ~ The tag goes behind the image on the card and is a bookmark.
Lizzie's ~ hand-embossed notes in 2 corners and flowers in the other 2.
Thanks for looking. I will be back with more soon I'm sure. I really need to set aside some time for blogging.
Dottie's Been Tagged
Over on Dottie's World last Sunday (24th August), Adele set the Sunday challenge. Although I'm posting very early Sunday morning (3:30amish to be precise), I'm still officially on Saturday as I haven't been to bed yet. So, technically speaking, I'm still in time for this challenge :D LOL
Adele said:
This week I want to see a tag or tags of any shape or size. It could be tag shape toppers, gift tags, tag books....and because hubby and me have just celebrated our wedding anniversary....for an extra Dottie bonus I would love to see some hearts and flowers too!!!
My card is a 25th wedding anniversary acceptance card as I needed to get one to the couple by Wednesday 3rd September! Something else I've left until the last minute! I've used one of the fab pre-coloured images from the love and marriage collection and printed it onto Safmat. For the hearts, I used Papermania paper and the flowers (red and pink) are from Calico Crafts. I cut the card in the shape of a tag and added ribbon to the top of the front. I've also stamped a 'thank you' tag and added narrow ribbon to that too.
Challenge completed and as long as I get it in the post now, I can go to the ball.
Tagged
I've been tagged by Shell (thanks, this is certainly different! lol). These are the rules:-
If you are tagged, you must firstly post the rules:
1. Write 7 strange characteristics about yourself. They interest us all!
2. Tag 6 other people at the end of your Post.
3. Visit everyone that you have tagged and leave a comment on their blog to let them know that they have been tagged.
So, my strange characteristics:
1. I have a problem when things go right as I wonder what'll go wrong next
2. I talk to myself too much
3. If I have to walk a distance, I find myself counting my steps. I blame my Dad for that one as he had my sisters and I do that when we did a sponsored walk as children. It was his way of keeping us going. Believe me, it actually works and it's just over 300 steps from mine to the main road bus stop! Hmmm.........
4. I find myself spelling words (in my head) that I see printed down if I'm stressed or worrying about something
5. I have to have tins in the cupboard facing the same way with the labels to the front and all the same thing has to be stacked together. Something David doesn't share with me, so the tins and jars are all over the place. I can't even argue as I can't reach half the shelving cos I'm such a shortie!
6. I sing along to the radio in the car and get embarrassed when I realise that the other drivers will most probably realise that
7. If I'm on my own and do a 'botty burp' (come on, we all do!!!!! LOL) I still say "pardon me" even though no-one else knows, cares or can hear me.
There ya go, I've spilt the beans and given you a laugh. Are you lucky enough to not have your name on my list I wonder or is it your turn to reveal all?
2 Days, 4 LO's ~ Is This I Record For Me?
On Thursday I went to stay with my really good friend Tee for the night. We spent Thursday evening and Friday afternoon crafting and it was so brilliant to have someone to craft and chat with. We even managed to craft with a glass (or 2) of wine!!
Here's the four LO's I did while I was there:
My nephew's 3rd birthday
David's Dad and Sylvia at a housewarming we had
A Quick Card and a Brilliant Sunday
I had to make a quick card on Friday night as I realised that I would need to take it to David's Dad on Saturday. It's his birthday next Saturday, but he's going away for a few week's holiday. As there wasn't much time, this is the quick card I made. It's been ages since I completely finished a card in less than half an hour. To make it easier, I used co-ordinating items all from Dovecraft's Masculine Range ~ 6x6 Paper Pack, Funky Brads. Chipboard Embellishments. All that was left for me to do was put it all together and add some fibres and a greeting. I used a peel-off due to the time factor (well, it was nearly 3am!!!).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have no photos to show you of my Sunday, but I've had the most awesome day. My niece is leaving Junior School and going to the 'big school'. Doesn't time fly? So that she has a lasting memory of being there, she's visited me these last 2 Sundays and I've helped her to make a mini-album for her friends and teachers to sign and for her to add photos and anything else she chooses. I gave her several ideas and she chose what she wanted and added her own ideas and twist on things. She's such a natural crafter that it's a joy to be with her like this (her elder brother is just the same). She decided to put one pocket on each DLO and make tags for everyone, which looks brilliant. She's going to come over in the Summer holidays and add the final touches to the book and then I'm hoping to take some photos. I did have to frisk her on the way out though as she was threatening to sneak all my stash out the door! Hmmm...... I don't think so LOL
