SLYMI week 27

Wow, we're in to the second half of this and I'm still keeping up. Here's my entry for week 27 ~ scrap a happy story.

I've chosen to use photos from a month ago when Jo and I were in Cambridge. Journalling reads "There we were; in the middle of Kings Street Cambridge, waiting to go to the ADC theatre, re-touching our make-up. We'd just been for a meal at the Rainbow Cafe and were having such a laugh. I love times we spend together like this and thanks to photography, have pictures too."

I've used Scrap Sketch's #103 sketch for this LO

SLYMI week 26 and Scrapsketch-challenges #4

Shimelle's current challenge on UKS for her Scrap Like You Mean It, is to scrap with stickers. Everything apart from the PP, photo and journalling is done by using stickers. The one on the top left "Warning, giggles are contagious. May cause bellyache", top right corner "Life is about sharing smiles", top right of photo "Uncontrollable laughter" and bottom right "Finding fun in simple ways makes the happiest of days". Photo is of my brother-in-law and our niece when he was dared to sit on her!!

I've also used scrapsketch-challenges sketch #4, which I've rotated.

Playtex Moonwalk, Secret Stash Strokers and A Playfight

Yep, you read it right, those three really do go together. Monday on UKScrappers, it was the turn of the Secret Stash Strokers to set the weekly challeng and here's what they said:

This year the Playtex Moonwalk took place in London on 16th May.
The Moonwalk, is one of a number of charity fundraisers which raises lots of money for breast cancer research. (see
www.walkthewalk.org for more info). We are basing our challenge around this event.

use feet in your layout, a baby photo, sports day, a walk or some favourite shoes etc = 10pts
something round for the moon = 10pts
ribbon = 5pts
something pink = 5pts

I've chosen to scrap a photo of my eldest nephew and my niece playfighting with their feet, a round frame highlights their feet, ribbon is under the quote at the bottom, and I've used pink ink, buttons and lettering.

Full points again to me, my team the Ruby Snippers and house Gold Eyelets.

Roll on getting my camera back or a new one :)

One Little Word's 2nd Birthday

One Little Word are celebrating their 2nd birthday and to celebrate they're giving away prizes to some people who enter the current challenge. They've challenged us to do 2 things based around the number 2. I've done 2 LOs for this.

Take Two Girls (and one chocolate fountain)

2 Brides (one wedding)

Appoogies for the bad photos, but my camera's gone wrong and has been sent off for fixing. I've borrowed one to use while I'm waiting, but I'm still getting used to it.

My Time To Craft's Island Fun

My Time To Craft have challenged us to make something using the theme of 'Island Fun'. They said to use hula images, pirate stamps, or hot tropical colours.

I went with the colour scheme and used hot green, pink and orange to make a pyramid exploding box suitable for putting a yummy special chocolate inside for a gift. I've inked a cuticle stick in hot pink to hold it together and added a rub-on to each of the 4 side.

Spooky and Fun

Charmed have a competition running until 1st November to do a card, LO or something else along the lines of spooky. Here's what it inspired me to do:

It's my niece with my Great-Aunt and my Mum. My niece moves so fast!!

Over on UKS, the house challenge is to do a LO with the theme FUN and to use as many patterned papers as we dare. Here's my LO:

I've used a total of 7 different PPs on this.

Thanks for looking. Love and hugs,

2 Days, 4 LO's ~ Is This I Record For Me?

On Thursday I went to stay with my really good friend Tee for the night. We spent Thursday evening and Friday afternoon crafting and it was so brilliant to have someone to craft and chat with. We even managed to craft with a glass (or 2) of wine!!

Here's the four LO's I did while I was there:

My nephew's 3rd birthday

David's Dad and Sylvia at a housewarming we had

My Great-Grandparents on my Mum's side

My Nan (Mum's Mum)

George

I'm so pleased for Lou and Dottie. Dottie's boyfriend George made an appearance tonight over on Charmed. If you love Dottie, you're sure to love sporty George. They are both available to buy as GIF or JPeg downloads. George is fantastic to help put the fun element into men's cards which a lot of us struggle with. I intend getting him to keep Dottie company, do you?

I'm Going Quiet - for once!!

Hi everyone, I'll be going quiet for a couple of days as I'm off to see my great friend Tee. We plan to chat, laugh, shop and craft. We've tried to tell her DH know he'll survive me being there, but I'm not sure he's convinced LOL. He could be right as I know how we were before when he was working away. Is he ready for me? Maybe not, but I'm going anyway! I just hope the winds die down a little for my journey. If not, I'll be driving slower, but getting there safely I hope.
I'll report back when I'm home Thursday, I'll hopefully have piccies of my crafting and who knows what else to show you?
Take care and mind the wind xxx

What A Brilliant 2 Days

What a great start to my week. Went to stay with my friend Tee on Monday morning and came home Tuesday late afternoon. I thought it'd be a great idea to head off early, so left at 07:30. Silly me forgot that that would be the day that everyone would be on the road. Usual commuter traffic plus those who were back to work after the Christmas/New Year break. Even so, it only added half an hour to my journey.

What a blast I had. I was really nervous about staying with Tee even though we'd met at the Bury Craft Show in September, but all my apprehensions went as soon as she opened the door. Tee's husband was away working so we never met, but I did meet her son, lodger and some of their friends. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We even managed to get some crafting done and started a Maze book for one part of Carmen's challenge on the 3C's site. I'm planning on getting some more of it done this afternoon.
So, I'd best get off here and get crafty. Take care until we meet again xx

Christmas Day

Woke at about 8 on Christmas Day to find that Father Christmas hadn't been here. So, got up, had some crumpets and got ready to go to Mum's. Christmas at Mum's is always great. Walked in to Mum's to find the tree laden down with presents which got opened after lunch. Mum had even filled me a stocking as she thought I was sleeping there the night before. She loves tradition, so my sister and O/H Mark had done her one too.

I love Mum's Christmas lunches - veggie roast, roast pots and mash, roast parsnips, Yorkshire, carrots, mushy peas, Brussels sprouts and stuffing followed by Christmas pud and custard. All washed down with a glass of wine.

We banished Mum to the living room while we cleared the table and despite having a dishwasher, there were still things to hand-wash! Sorry Mark, just couldn't resist posting it! You know I luv ya really. You did make a good job of it.

My sister's mad! In one of the films her and Mark had seen, there was a weather thingy where you can choose what weather you want. Apparently Mark made the remark that "Oh, it'd be so fantastic to have one of those". So, she made him one. On reading the note that came with it, he realised that if he wanted rain and pushing the right numbered button didn't work, he was to go to the bathroom, run a cold shower and stand under it holding an umbrella. For sun, he had to book a tanning session. Ice? Empty the freezer and stand in it. A rainbow? Blow some bubbles and look directly into them. And so on. She'd even made picture weather sticks for him to put in the top where the curly hair is. It was mad, but ingenious.

Yes, Santa had found somewhere to take my presents. I'd forgotten that in my letter to him, I'd told him I was probably going to be at Mum's the night before and that's where they were. Hers some of the things I got: Alphabet die cuts for my new Big Shot, beads, sequins and funky foam shapes, 2 duvet sets, a black fluffy magic scarf, beauty products, cordless screwdriver, chocolate, money and an A3 printer that I actually received in the summer.

Mum's dog wasn't forgotten either. Bless her, she's so small and Mum bought her a squeaky stocking toy. She spent several minutes working out how to open her mouth wide enough to be able to carry it. We thought she was going to get lock jaw, but she did it in the end. That's what you call determination.

After an evening of playing the Taboo board game amongst others we were all shattered, but a good day was had by all and that's the main thing.

I came home Boxing Day at lunch time and spent the afternoon crafting - well, playing with my new die cutter. I didn't achieve much apart from that, but there's always another day.

Hope you were all able to have great days and feel happy, full and refreshed.
