One LO, Two Challenges

I've done a LO to enter for a couple of challenges. Firstly:

My Time To Craft (challenge #60) ~ "Anything but a card". I've done a LO instead.

Secondly How Much Is Too Much (challenge #105) ~ "Working 9 to 5". They said we must use at least:
9 words in our journalling ~ couldn't say it in just 9, so used 25!!
8 brads ~ 8 gold ones
7 letter stickers ~ actually, there's 17
6 pieces of patterned paper ~ yep, exactly 6
5 photos ~ 4 black & white and 1 colour

Five In One Challenge Card

Once you start making a card, it's surprising how many challenges it sometimes ends up being suitable for.

I made a card last night (Sunday) and used the sketch from the JUST CHRISTMAS AND BIRTHDAYS blog, after turning it round. I'd already coloured the Holly image in using watercolour paints and realised it fitted with PAPERTAKE WEEKLY's pink/orange/brown, MY TIME TO CRAFT's hat and adding the right sentiment meant that it fitted with ONE STOP CRAFT CHALLENGE's sorry challenge. After photographing it, I also found that I'd completed DOTTIE'S WORLD's get the feeling as I'd used ribbon and velvet brads.

I'm late uploading it for some of the challenges, but never mind. I made it because I wanted to, adding in the challenges was a bonus. The Holly image is available for download as part of a collection exclusively from Charmed. While you're there, look out for the latest utterly amazing collection ~ Holly and Madison's World Tour.

UKS Advent Swap 2008

I took part in the advent swap on UKScrappers last Christmas (2008). You send and receive 25 wrapped presents - one for each day leading up to Christmas and a larger one for Christmas day. I was determined to make an album of the presents I received and I've eventually done it this week, so here's my yummy scrummy presents. Unfortunately, I ate one of them before photographing it and I also forgot what day I got things on except Day 1 and Christmas Day. Next time, I'll make a list as I go!

Thanks for looking.
Take care, love and hugs,
Sarah C xoxo

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Hello to all my friends and a very Happy Christmas too.

I have an appology to make to you all in that I would dearly love to send you all a card this year, but I'm still waiting to hear about one of my benefits (oh the joys of being a Job Seeker!) and have been told there's a backlog so not to expect any money from them before next year. Great, with Christmas just over a week away. It's also just as well I wasn't planning a big party for New Year's Eve too.

So, as I can't send you all a card I have done a Mini-Christmas Card LO. Feel free to print off a copy and add it to the ones you already have.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful time not just next week, but every day of every week.

Take care all of you.
With love and hugs

Three Challenges And A Birthday

Well, I've not done as much crafting as I hoped I would and so far this week have managed the grand total of TWO Christmas cards! HELP!!!!!! I have done some crafting though and here it is in all it's glory - although photos identities have been protected.

UKScrappers weekly challenge - use sketch, theme of new beginnings, stamping and white ribbon or flowers ~ all components met, so full points for my team The Ruby Snippers

Member's Sketch Challenge on 3C's set by Tee - (ATC done previously) Christmas card for someone special and including ribbon ~ LO using torn/ripped paper and hand-journalling. Once again all components met so full points for me.

Card

LO

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge set by Adele - textural - ribbon and lace ~ must use some of at least one on your creation. I've used silver sparkly ric-rac ribbon. Picture is a download by Lou and available from Charmed and it's finished with a stamped greeting, some Stickles on the sowman, snow and Dottie's dotty boots and a K&Co snowflake

Birthday Card - stamped image with jewels and flowers highlighted with Diamond Stickles. I've used pink/white lace down the side over some floral paper and stamped the greeting.

Christmas at Crafty Muse

It's Christmas time at Crafty Muse and your challenge this week is to make a Christmas Card. If you do, you will be entered into the draw to win a pre-release stamp. If you use one of Sammi's downloads on your card (available to buy on the site), you will be entered twice. Here's my card for some inspiration:

At this time of the year, children change their minds so often about what they'd like, so I used that theme for my card. It's Christmas eve and the lad is e-mailing Santa with an updated list! Hmmm.......... I don't think Santa is quite able to perform that miracle unless he knew it was coming LOL

I printed the images and sentiment directly onto the card and watercoloured them using my brush markers. Images used are ~ comp boy and the yet to be available tree with fairy and the present. Keep an eye on the blog as Sammi's giving some Christmas images away next week.

Take care and stay safe in this frosty and snowy weather

The Big Switch On

If you can call it that. Sorry Ely, but it is still very tame compared to the likes of Chatteris which is a smaller town only 20 minutes away. But it's what Ely have and people certainly turn out in their droves for it. Or was it to see singing brother and sister act 'Same Difference' (last year's X-Factor) or fellow X-Factor contestant 80-year-old Cyril Grant?

I went with my Mum, brother-in-law-to-be, eldest nephew and niece. My nephew was so pleased when he realised that Warwick Davis (Willow, Star Wars, Harry Potter and last year's Celebrity Scissorhands) was there and was so desperate to see him on stage. This was impossible as some of those with wheelchairs and pushchairs thought it was their given right to push through to get nearer the front.

Here's where I get on my soapbox, so I'll appologise now. WHAT gives these people the right to shout "wheelchair/pushchair coming through!" and expect the sea of people to part so they can move to the front? In my humble opinion, they should have done what we should have done and got there earlier. What about those who are naturally short due to age or genes? I saw young children desperate for a peek at those on stage and they couldn't see a thing. What would have happened if the adults with them had shouted "small child coming through!"? Not a lot I expect apart from sighs, tuts and people standing so firm that you'd think they were superglued to the floor. Aaaaaaaargh. Sorry, but it just makes me so mad.

Anyway, on a lighter note, The Churches in Ely colaborated and put on a real-life Advent complete with a donkey and camels to give us all something different. Thank you for making such an effort. it was much appreciated.

Once we'd seen that and eaten, we made our way to the stage area which as I've said earlier was heaving with people. But we could hear what was going on and were there with everyone else. At the end, Same Difference and Warwick were signing autographs in one of the offices behind the stage. Yep, we were asked? begged? erm.............. well ................... asked in a way that we could NOT refuse by my nephew that he wanted Warwick's autograph and was it ok if we went over. Hmmm.................. 70 minutes later and we were still about half an hour away from the door. Crazy isn't the word and I found out that several people had jumped a barrier and pushed to the front earlier. All of a sudden one of the officials came out and asked if anyone was there just for Warwick's autograph and not for his and Same Difference. My nephews face lit up and he said "YES", so we were queue jumped and went straight in. Both my sets of camera batteries died just before that, so it was a case of phone camera only, but they have the photos and autographs and that's all they were worried about. To see the look on their faces (his especially) was worth waiting in a long, cold queue for and I'd do it all again if I had to. Just don't tell him that or he'll take me up on it one day!!!! LOL

Photographs of the switch on are on my photoblog. The one's of Warwick aren't as they may be subject to copyright and also have my niece and nephew in, so I'd best not show those. Yes, he was really there and yes, we really did queue for that long.

Would I do it all again? Tough question. I would if someone I liked was there. I'd ignore the rest of the procedings to stand at the front of the crowd right at the beginning and not move, then I'd have someone on the side ready to get near the front of the autograph queue for me to join once I got through the crowd. "BIGGEST FAN COMING THROUGH"!!!!!!!

Thanks for coming to visit.

Take care. Love and hugs

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards - I managed to make the Christmas card this week using the sketch
