May Day!

As you most likely know, it was May Day this last Monday. We at Crafty Muse have decided to use this as our challenge for this fortnight. Here's what Sammi said

"Well... It's the beginning of May.... we've just had May Day and so what better theme for this challenge... We would like you to make a project inspired by the idea of

May Day :: love, flowers, romance!

It's Mother's Day in Australia this Sunday... if you are downunder why not make a Mother's day card for this challenge??"

Here's my card, inspired by the ribbons on a traditional May Pole. I've used an Angelique Sitting stamp exclusively available from Sammi at Crafty Muse.

Sammi also added

"THERE will be a prize this challenge.... the winner can choose one download package + just quietly at the end of this challenge there will be 2 new download sets available.... exciting!!"

Crafty Muse Goes Spotty

It's hard to believe that it's been a fortnight since the last Crafty Muse challenge, but it sure has been. Once again, I'm not at home for it, so this is a scheduled post again and any comments will be approved once I return home. I'm visiting a cousin of mine who I haven't seen for 15 years. We lost contact and I was traced by her son at the end of last year. Should be a good week-end as I'm staying with her and her family until Sunday.

So, back to the reason for this post. On Crafty Muse, we challenge you to use lots of spots on your crafting. You have 2 weeks to get creative. Here's my card using an image from the boy/male image download collection, together with some backing paper from Poundland and some spotted ribbon. I printed the image onto watercolour paper and used watercolour paints. The sentiment was designed in Word and printed onto card before inking over it with Sage Versacolor ink.

It's Easter at Crafty Muse

Well everyone, the latest challenge is up at Crafty Muse and this time, we'd like you to make an  Easter project. There's even a couple of freebie images and a PDF file of Easter sentiments for you.

Here's my Easter card, coloured with Prismacolours.  I've used an egg that Sammi gave us and one of the sentiments from the PDF file. To complete the card, I added a charm that says 'Live in the Light', some ribbon and stickles.

Change of Season

It's been a fortnight since the last Crafty Muse challenge, so that means it's time for another and this time Sammi said "and seeing as we have just had a change of season (Spring or Autumn depending on which side of the world you live on) then we would like you to make a project based on that theme:
Change of Season"

Here's my card which uses a download that will be coming out next week as part of another fantastic bundle. Stay tuned to Crafty Muse so you don't miss out. I've watercoloured both the image and the base card, added ribbon, stars and the stamped sentiment.

Mums & Girlfriends

It's challenge time again on Crafty Muse and this is what Sammi said:

"This time we would like to make something for a mother... yours or someone elses... (It's Mother's Day in the UK on 22 March)

OR

you could make a card for a friend (but it must be for a female) :) "

Here's my card. The wording is from elegant wordart.

Your Favourite Colour

I gave you a sneek preview of this fortnight's challegne on Crafty Muse. Now I can show it to you in full. The challenge is to do some crafting in your favourite colour. It would be nice if you could include a Crafty Muse download on it (see sidebar on the site), but that's not essential.

I enlarged the free image that was given to those who took part in the last challenge and printed it out on 380gsm whiter card to fit a 10x8 frame. I water-colour it in using my brush markers including the background.

Thank you for looking. Don't forget to hop over to Crafty Muse, make a project and show us your favourite colours.

Sneeky Peek ready for Friday

If you haven't already done something for the current challenge on Crafty Muse, shame on you. Don't you want your FREE image. Yes, I did say FREE. You've got until this Thursday night to do something as the next challenge goes live on Friday.

Here's what I did for it as part of the design team

Oops, someone seems to have taken most of it! Shock, horror!!

LOL Come on, did you really think I'd show you it all before Friday? I'm not that silly. Come back then and see the rest and find out just what the challenge is.

Don't forget to do something to claim your FREE image before then though.

Take care and happy crafting (if you're a crafter that is, if not, just take care)

Sweet

On Crafty Muse, this fortnight's challenge is to make something candy coloured or chocolate themed. I chose to make a card for it. If anyone remembers the old Milk Tray advert where the guy swims through the sea and such to get the box of chocolates to the lady of his dreams, that's what this card is based on. I used the 'once upon a time/fairytale' images from Crafty Muse and continued the images inside the card.

I hope I've inspired one or two of you. Why not have a go at this challenge yourself? Sammi's giving everyone who enters, a free download image.

Crafty Muse - challenges and stamps

Have you joined in with the latest challenge on Crafty Muse? If not and you like sketches, get on over there. The next challenge goes live on 30th January, so there's less than a week left. Here's a sneeky peek at something I've made for the next challenge.

Don't forget to go to Crafty Muse on 30th January to see what the challenge is and what the design team have all made to give you inspiration.

One last thing (but certainly not least)before I go from here. Sammi has started making stamps. She is offering to turn your works of art into stamps at a very reasonable cost. I took her up on the offer and had these turned into stamps which are simply brilliant.

Loads of love as always

Another catch-up - UKS and 'just because'

I seem to be playing catch-up on here. So, if you're sitting comfortably, I'll show you my latest craft makes.

Week 3 - chipboard

Week 4 - sketch

Something New

Crafty Muse have this title for the latest challenge and here's my work:

I've used MillyRose and teddy that I coloured in using a free downloadable programme Paint.net. After importing the coloured image into Word, I added the matting backgrounds and wording and printed it all onto photo paper. This was stuck to a base card and ribbon added with DST.

I was going to appologise for giving you a computer generated card this week, but I've changed my mind. It's done like this mainly because I can hardly see my craft desk and I'm also still quite poorly, but it does show the versatility of downloadable images.

Quick update on me: I caught what the nurse thought was a virus at the end of September, now the docs don't know what it is! I ache all over, I'm unable to get comfortable, I'm sneezing and coughing all the time, feel really lethargic, can't sit at the computer for long at a time and don't feel like crafting (now I know I'm not well!! LOL). I did manage this week's challenge LO on UKS the other day and I've done an ATC for part of Ruth's challenge on 3C's, but that's all. So, until I can get here again take care.

HAPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL
Love from me xoxoxox

Boys Will Be Boys

Crafty Muse challenge for the next fortnight is Boy Will Be Boys. Here's my DT entries:

Door hanger

I took the hard route to get this hanger made, but here's an easy way:
The base is a pre-cut MDF hanger that I painted in red acrylic paints.
In a Word document, I re-sized the page to the area I had to work with.
I inserted the comp boy image from Crafty Muse and re-sized it to fit.
Using WordArt, I designed the wording and re-sized it to fit.
I printed them all out onto paper. That was the easy bit.
Now, this is what I should have done afterwards:
Place a piece of tracing paper over your hanger and your paper on top.
Draw over the printed images and remove the papers.
Go over the outlines with a thin permanent pen.
The explosion image on the right is a stamp that I had to ink over with the permanent pen as it didn't ink properly.
Card
I opened the skier image in Paint.Net (a free programme available here) and coloured it adding the wording.
After printing it onto photo paper, I mounted it onto hammered silver card.
I covered an A5 card in snowflake paper and added the image using foam pads.
I used DST to stick the 2 ribbons on the bottom and added silver snowflakes with stickles on for some bling.

Christmas at Crafty Muse

It's Christmas time at Crafty Muse and your challenge this week is to make a Christmas Card. If you do, you will be entered into the draw to win a pre-release stamp. If you use one of Sammi's downloads on your card (available to buy on the site), you will be entered twice. Here's my card for some inspiration:

At this time of the year, children change their minds so often about what they'd like, so I used that theme for my card. It's Christmas eve and the lad is e-mailing Santa with an updated list! Hmmm.......... I don't think Santa is quite able to perform that miracle unless he knew it was coming LOL

I printed the images and sentiment directly onto the card and watercoloured them using my brush markers. Images used are ~ comp boy and the yet to be available tree with fairy and the present. Keep an eye on the blog as Sammi's giving some Christmas images away next week.

Take care and stay safe in this frosty and snowy weather

1st Design Team Submission

I'm guessing that by now you are aware that I'm on the design team for Crafty Muse. Their challenge this week is to create something using the colour purple. This was so hard for me considering purple's my favourite colour!!! LOL

So, what did I do?

Using images from Crafty Muse, I made this card with Millie Rose Dots which I watercoloured using my bush markers. I covered some card in purple star paper and tied some ribbon on the left. I stuck Angelique and the sentiment (made using WordArt) before adding some diamond Stickles to Angelique, the sentiment, the ribbon and the stars.

I thought this card might make a perfect invitation for a little girl's party.

My second offering is this using sitting down Angelique.

Here's how I made it:

I took a piece of mountboard and cut it large enough to fit a notepad, pen and clip onto. I covered it in the same star paper as the card and inked the edges. I mixed blue, red and white acrylic paint to get the right shade and covered the front of the notebook. Sitting down Angelique was printed onto SafMat and put on the bottom then the notepad was stuck using wet glue. I punched holes in the mountboard using my crop-a-dile to thread ribbon through to add detail to the pad, to hold the pen and to be able hang it all up. The clip at the bottom is stuck using hot glue and can hold vouchers, extra notes and more. This could also have magnets stuck on the back (instead of the ribbon) for putting on a fridge and using as a shopping list/voucher centre.

Take care,
