Let Them Eat Cake and The Chair

I did a LO of the cakes my youngest sister made for her birthday tea party this year.
Made to make your mouth water.

I was going to enter a Design Team Call by Stuck?!. Unfortunately, I didn't get all the LOs required done in time, so was unable to enter this time round. Never mind, it obviously wasn't to be. I did do a LO based on the sketch they provided though.

Someone was 50 Plus A Stamped Male Birthday Card

I made 2 cards this week. One for my cousin who was 50 last Sunday and one for my sister's boyfriend.

I used 2 stamps and the masking technique for this card. Annie sitting pretty and tree stump with bluebells are both designed by Lou and Karen and sold exclusively by Charmed Cards and Craft. Numbers are Basic Grey Two Scoops stickers

For this card, I used an image from Stampscapes Lakeside Cove unmounted stamp set. I stamped using dark blue ink and added rub-on letters for the sentiment.

Thanks to Joyce (UKS's 2magpies) for her video tutorial for making one of these cards. I've used an image I was given by a friend to make a card for a 5 year old.

A LO 'Just Because' ~ sort of

I had a go at doing a LO for a competition, but once I'd finished it, I decided it wasn't what the sort of LO I wanted to enter IYKWIM? So, here it is and I have the week-end to do another. Thinking cap's on again!

The 'Happy Birthday' is ribbon, the 'Now 11' is done by sticking tiny blue gems onto red ribbon. PPs are Basic Grey Cupcake and blooms are Green Tara.

BIRTHDAY CANDY WINNER

I've not had 40 correct responses, so I've put numbers in a hat (well, a box to be precise) and asked David to pick out one. The lucky number is:

Congratulations and on checking, it's

TEE
I've had to go to comment number 6 as 2 and 4 do not start with the requested word of CANDY .

Congratulations. Please contact me so I can send the box of goodies to you.

Love as always

After June 10th, the 40th comment with CANDY at the beginning will win. Comments will be kept under wraps until then.

Male Summer Birthday Card

Why are male cards so hard to make? Because we don't feel or know we can't really use ribbons, flowers, glitter .........  They're not so bad if the guy in question is into anything, but when they're not or you don't know, what do you do? I had one of those to make this week and decided to search the gallery of DoCrafts to see what others had done. I'm so glad I did as one card jumped out and I've based my card on it. Thanks Twinkle* for that.

BIG BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS FOR DOTTIE'S WORLD

Where do I start? Would you believe Dottie's Wonderful World is nearly a year old? No, me either. To celebrate, there's loads going on for a week starting this Sunday (17th May). Bad news is that the site's closing for a couple of days this Friday to allow changes to happen. Sounds exciting doesn't it?

Blog candy (random draw taking place on Saturday 23rd May)

Here's my invitation, you need to go and get yours now.

Let's Hear It For The Fab Four and A Card Almost Revealed

Last week's challenge on UKScrappers, set by the Norty Crew, was to use

* A Beatles song title - 10pts
** Either black & white or Red,white & blue - 10pts
***Ribbon, a tree or a weaving technique - 10pts

I've used a photo that was taken about 20 years ago. I had taken the son of one of my cousin's to meet up with a child my youngest sister was looking after. We decided to take them to a local park and they kept running off ahead of us, hence the title. The journalling reads "No matter how many times we shouted it, you'd still run off ignoring us!"

So, the challenge:
* I've used 2 songs 'Wait' and 'Slow Down'
** Colour combination was easy as both boys were wearing red, white and blue
*** Nearly forgot the ribbon, so added some around 2 sides of the photo

I reckon that's all parts of the challenge met, so full points for me for my team Ruby Snippers and my house Gold Eyelets. The title was designed on my ROBO, cut 4 times out of 100gsm paper and stuck in layers.

I nearly forgot, I made a card a few weeks ago for a friend of mine and had hidden the sentiment in the corner. I said I'd reveal once she'd received it. Well, she had her birthday yesterday and the card arrived on time which is a miracle for me this year!! But, I can't show you the card in it's entirity as I only saved the hidden version of it!! What am I like???? lol  So, you know who you are HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR YESTERDAY. I hope you had a fantastic day.

Twice as Nice

Adele set the weekly Dottie's World challenge on Sunday and said:

Twice as Nice.......

I would like you to use two or more charmed downloads on your creations this week. You can mix and match, duplicate an image, re-size, whatever you fancy but I need to see two or more images.

One of my sisters has a birthday next week, so I decided to make her a tri-fold card. I used 3 images from the Holly and Madison World Tour collection and my Prismacolour pencils.

Holly in Spain is a tag (for One Stop Craft's Tag It challenge). It's held in an acetate pocket edged with ribbon, so it can be used as a bookmark.

The wording inside the card reads "On your birthday and every day, may your dreams take you to the places your heart desires". Wonder where she'll choose?

Take 3 Cards

I made an ATC the other day and decided to turn it into a birthday card for a friend. I've made it in advance, so have covered the sentiment or it would have given the game away somewhat! I cut an arched window aperture and stuck an ATC sleeve behind it to hold the ATC.

As some of you are aware, I have a wedding to go to on Saturday. After 20 months of planning, my little sister's getting married. I made this card for her which should arrive tomorrow (Friday). I've used a pre-coloured image from the back-to-front Dottie and George collection by Lou and available only from Charmed and printed it onto watercolour paper. I cut an arched aperture so that I could back the images and it would look like she really is looking out of the window. The open frames have been backed with acetate.

This card fits with My Time To Craft's latest challenge 'WOMAN'

Inside the front

The wording inside follows on from the front and reads: to go before your prince sweeps you off your feet and you become ..... Mrs Norman

Here's their wedding card. I've once again used pre-coloured images from the back-to-front Dottie and George collection by Lou, available from Charmed and printed onto watercolour paper. I wanted the card to be fun as that's what they're all about (as well as love of course!). And yes, I am safe putting these last 2 cards on here early as she doesn't have internet access at the moment and he's staying at his brother's.

Sketch Saturday

One of my friends has moved home and I've made a card to send to her. She's an Elvis fan and this image from the Dottie & George Rock & Roll collection is perfect. I coloured it in using my watercolour paints as usual and used the latest sketch from SKETCH SATURDAY.

I then found out today that my Great-Aunt is 80 tomorrow, so I had an unexpcted card to make. She doesn't seem 80, so I decided to go for a youthful looking card using a Holly download also from Charmed and coloured it using my watercolour paints. I used the same sketch as I did for the Elvis card above.

Five In One Challenge Card

Once you start making a card, it's surprising how many challenges it sometimes ends up being suitable for.

I made a card last night (Sunday) and used the sketch from the JUST CHRISTMAS AND BIRTHDAYS blog, after turning it round. I'd already coloured the Holly image in using watercolour paints and realised it fitted with PAPERTAKE WEEKLY's pink/orange/brown, MY TIME TO CRAFT's hat and adding the right sentiment meant that it fitted with ONE STOP CRAFT CHALLENGE's sorry challenge. After photographing it, I also found that I'd completed DOTTIE'S WORLD's get the feeling as I'd used ribbon and velvet brads.

I'm late uploading it for some of the challenges, but never mind. I made it because I wanted to, adding in the challenges was a bonus. The Holly image is available for download as part of a collection exclusively from Charmed. While you're there, look out for the latest utterly amazing collection ~ Holly and Madison's World Tour.

Cards For Different Occasions

I've made 3 cards in the last 24 hours for such different occasions. I definately am not a card maker nowadays and much prefer doing scrap pages. Oh well, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet as they say, so here's the cards:

1)This is for my cousin's as it's her birthday on Saturday. I've glittered alternate stripes on the backing paper which you can just about see.

2) My youngest sister and her DH-to-be get the keys to their first home tomorrow and I want a card to be on the doormat when they first get there (please Royal Mail don't let me down). The house design was card lifted from a card by my friend Juliet. It's not half as good as her card is, but I had to go to plan B when my stupid computer wouldn't realise I'd put a disc in it's drawer with downloads on. I wanted to use the back to front Dottie and George on it!

3) This card's for my mum's cousin (see post below). I've tried to make it suitable for a man to receive, but have a touch of femininity and gentleness, hence the lace.

How .............

does this

become this

and still be as safe as possible for a 1 year old?

With a lot of time and effort and paper trial and errors.

It's my youngest nephew's 1st birthday today (10th) and I wanted to make him an interactive card that was still relatively safe for him to handle (under supervision). I decided to have a go at making a spinning image type card. I'm sure there's a technical name for it, but at nearly 01:30am I can't think of it! It took me a total of nearly 7 hours to work it out and get a finished product and I've kept the final templates so it should be easier next time. I hope he likes it, but at his age, he'll just want the toys. I can imagine it'll be the adults that play with the card, can'tyou?

Take care.
