A Quick Card and a Brilliant Sunday

I had to make a quick card on Friday night as I realised that I would need to take it to David's Dad on Saturday. It's his birthday next Saturday, but he's going away for a few week's holiday. As there wasn't much time, this is the quick card I made. It's been ages since I completely finished a card in less than half an hour. To make it easier, I used co-ordinating items all from Dovecraft's Masculine Range ~ 6x6 Paper Pack, Funky Brads. Chipboard Embellishments. All that was left for me to do was put it all together and add some fibres and a greeting. I used a peel-off due to the time factor (well, it was nearly 3am!!!).

I have no photos to show you of my Sunday, but I've had the most awesome day. My niece is leaving Junior School and going to the 'big school'. Doesn't time fly? So that she has a lasting memory of being there, she's visited me these last 2 Sundays and I've helped her to make a mini-album for her friends and teachers to sign and for her to add photos and anything else she chooses. I gave her several ideas and she chose what she wanted and added her own ideas and twist on things. She's such a natural crafter that it's a joy to be with her like this (her elder brother is just the same). She decided to put one pocket on each DLO and make tags for everyone, which looks brilliant. She's going to come over in the Summer holidays and add the final touches to the book and then I'm hoping to take some photos. I did have to frisk her on the way out though as she was threatening to sneak all my stash out the door! Hmmm...... I don't think so LOL

New LO's

I've been busy doing challenge LO's these last 2 days.

First one was the Elsie Flannigan challenge #6 and the House Challenge, both on UK Scrappers

Elsie's challenge was: Create a ribbon cluster. Ribbons are beautiful accents on a page - no matter what! But why not take the next step? Challenge yourself to create an accent with a cluster of ribbons. Just tie two three, four or more ribbons and cluster them together, weave them through an embroidered boarder, or hook a tiny safety pin through them. Elsie Flannigan

Second one was the Elsie Flannigan challenge #7 on UK Scrappers

Take an Artistic Photograph. Its easy to capture photographs of family and events. But for this challenge, I want you to look through the lens of your camera as a photo enthusiast. I took some photos of my garden about a month ago and put a few on here. The one most people commented on was the stones, so I decided to scrap a photo of them. I've done this on green Bazzill to represent the green jig-roll you can get. I used a paper jigsaw template I printed to emboss round so I could hand-cut the photo. I've started the jigsaw off, it just needs someone to come and finish it now!

The embossing round the edges of the bazzill are done free-hand. I'm not sure what I think of my handwriting on this (and no, I'm not looking for compliments, I'm really not sure if I like it). But, it's done and it's how it's going to stay.

Third LO is the Elsie Flannigan challenge #8 on UK Scrappers

Group four photos. I love creating one-photo layouts, but sometimes I have more than one photograph to feature on a page. I like to take four (or more) photographs and cluster them together in a group. This makes them appear almost as one large focal-point photo but allows me to display more images at one time. Try it. Mum and I went ten-pin bowling while we were on holiday last year, so this challenge was a perfect way to show one of the games we had.

I've cut chipboard into a curved arrow, coloured it using VersaColor ink in Orange and Canary, heat embossed it with clear powder and added flower transfers.

The photograph was taken during Easter week 2007, when my friend JoJo, her husband and little boy came over for a barbecue. The weather was so much nicer last year and we were able to sit outside and eat without getting too cold!

Birthday Card

Just a quick post today as I have things to do before mum comes over. Hope you are all well. Here's a card I made for my cousin's eldest son's birthday yesterday.
