Spring

Spring has sprung. Well, it did in April in Clacton. Saturday 9th's Sultry Summer Stash Bash on UKS was to use the sketch provided, 2 different manufacturers' PPs and; as an added challenge, mix your alphabets. So, what did I do?

I used 2 different papers: Imaginisce for the top right and K&Co Brenda Walton design (can't remember the exact name as that's the bit I stuck down!!) for the bottom left. Both were bought from Charmed. For the title, I used 2 different stamps, a hand-punch, a sticker, a paper cut-out and handwriting. The flower in the centre is chipboard that I've double heat-embossed using rose ink and clear powder.

Wall Hanging

My challenges on 3'Cs were to do a LO (which is here) and a wall hanging. I said "I saw this and loved it, but never got round to making one. Now’s our chance. But once again, can you do it without using glitter, bling, pink, photos of people or pets?" karen added the points and extras on a couple of days later, which were:

I made my hanging before the points and extras were posted on the forum and didn't use acrylic paint, so off I went to get some. I stamped 3 flowers using it and stuck these on. The papers are all from K & Co's Hannah scrap pad to go from Charmed. I designed the wording and printed it from my computer, then hand cut the chipboard. I did the same with the frames. After covering them with the paper, I used a brush marker to edge them all. I used 3 of my favourite photos from my Somerset holiday to go with the theme of tranquil.

What a Scrap !!

Well, I got in gear and did some scrapping yesterday.

First for the UKS May week 2 challenge by the Doodlebugs. They said:

1. We would like you to base your layout on the attached sketch - 10 points
2. We all love using stamps now and again, so incorporate stamping in your layout - 5 points
3. As it's May, we decided to indulge our love of ribbons. So get creative with your ribbons - 5 points
4. And finally, as we are the DOODLEbugs, we couldn't leave out doodling!!! - 10 points

After inking a piece of yellow Bazzill with green and orange Versacolor inks, I:

1. flipped the sketch over ~ 10 points
2. stamped 3 journalling blocks next to the photo using green versacolor ~ 5 points
3. taped (on the back) lengths of yellow check and green ribbon ~ 5 points
4. doodled fake stitching swirls on the right and continued it around the photo and journalling ~ 10 points

Here's my Lo for the UKS May House Challenge which is:

THEME : MY FAVOURITE PLACE / TECHNIQUE : STITCHING

I've copied this from the description I put on UKS:

I've gone for a totally diferent take on this challenge.

In the mid 70's, Dad and I went through a life changing experience and after that my favourite place was to be anywhere he was. The photo shows the award ceremony with Dad and I centre stage.

I've hand-stitched the frame around the photo, the star and the spiral. The background is white card coloured with 3 versacolor ink pads. The scroll and lettering were made with yellow paper. I used a pen to add fake stitching to the letters and inked the edges of the scroll with versacolor.

Last but by no means least, heres a scrapping challenge LO I did on the DoCraft site set by a member.

We were allowed to use:
* 2 pieces of plain card stock
* 1 piece of patterned card stock
* 1 photo
* 2 different ribbons
* and nothing else

Well, I finally got my head around it and came up with this for which I used:
* dark red bazzill for the base and a small piece of green card to matt the photo
* 1 piece of 6x6 patterned paper (instead of card stock) from a K & Co paper pad. I cut this up and used it for framing and as embellishments
* photo of a hill/mountain near Burnham-on-Sea that Mum and I used as our landmark when we were on holiday there
* brown and burgundy ribbons layered on the green card to frame the photo
* that's your lot

Challenge met and thoroughly enjoyed too

New LO's

I've been busy doing challenge LO's these last 2 days.

First one was the Elsie Flannigan challenge #6 and the House Challenge, both on UK Scrappers

Elsie's challenge was: Create a ribbon cluster. Ribbons are beautiful accents on a page - no matter what! But why not take the next step? Challenge yourself to create an accent with a cluster of ribbons. Just tie two three, four or more ribbons and cluster them together, weave them through an embroidered boarder, or hook a tiny safety pin through them. Elsie Flannigan

Second one was the Elsie Flannigan challenge #7 on UK Scrappers

Take an Artistic Photograph. Its easy to capture photographs of family and events. But for this challenge, I want you to look through the lens of your camera as a photo enthusiast. Take a closer glanceat things in your life that you might otherwise walk on by. Look for beauty in unexpected places, inside and outside of your home! Elsie Flannigan.

I took some photos of my garden about a month ago and put a few on here. The one most people commented on was the stones, so I decided to scrap a photo of them. I've done this on green Bazzill to represent the green jig-roll you can get. I used a paper jigsaw template I printed to emboss round so I could hand-cut the photo. I've started the jigsaw off, it just needs someone to come and finish it now!

The embossing round the edges of the bazzill are done free-hand. I'm not sure what I think of my handwriting on this (and no, I'm not looking for compliments, I'm really not sure if I like it). But, it's done and it's how it's going to stay.

Third LO is the Elsie Flannigan challenge #8 on UK Scrappers

Group four photos. I love creating one-photo layouts, but sometimes I have more than one photograph to feature on a page. I like to take four (or more) photographs and cluster them together in a group. This makes them appear almost as one large focal-point photo but allows me to display more images at one time. Try it. Elsie Flannigan.

Mum and I went ten-pin bowling while we were on holiday last year, so this challenge was a perfect way to show one of the games we had.

Magnetised

My sister Andrea has her birthday on Sunday and I had no idea what to get her until I went into a pound shop in Wisbech and found a pack of coloured magnetic pegs. I decided that I would decorate one for her and mount it on a chipboard surround, so she could still put it on her fridge. As a final touch, I've used the peg to hold some money so she can treat herself.

To make this I used:

My Scrapping

Hi everyone, as you know I've been busy scrapping. I've done a couple of LO's of my niece and eldest nephew and here are some others I've done.

This one is for the Elsie Flannigan Challenge #1 on UKS. Challenge was to cut up a phrase.

Paper is Center City - Astor Place from Charmed Cards and Crafts

Phrase is Rusty Pickle Mayflower Cardstock Coupons also from Charmed Cards and Crafts

I've also used buttons and fibres to embellish the LO.

This LO is for the Elsie Flannigan Challenge #2 on UKS. Challenge was to take your favourite photo and change it to B & W for the LO.

I used my favourite photo of my mum on our girls holiday in Somerset last year. It was nice seeing her take a quiet moment beside the stream in Cheddar as she was always so busy at work and home.

The papers and sayings that I mounted onto chipboard (a picture is worth a thousand words / memories last forever / serene) are from K & Co's Hannah Scrap Pad To Go from Charmed Cards and Crafts as is the Prima flower.

I used the Ellison Tootsie Die Cut Alphabet for the large lettering and the phrase on vellum is "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart - Helen Keller"
