SLYMI week 31 and Michelle's sketch challenge on SATC

Yep, one LO, 2 challenges. Shimelle's Scrap Like You Mean It on UKS this week is to scrap "something old, something new, something borrowed or something blue". She said to use one or all and we could ignore the wedding connection if we wanted.

So, after realising that the photo I had wasn't quite what I'd remembered, I decided to scrap a copy of a school photo of my nan aged 11.

Michelle's sketch challenge on Scrap Around The Clock for July-August was provided by Pagemaps and I've turned it for my LO.

The brackets and swirls were cut on my ROBO which is now working with the Vista on my laptop :) I also got ROBO to cut the title out of the blue paper to allow the white to show through.

Crafty Muse Sketch and Recipie

It's Crafty Muse Fortnight Friday today and that means another challenge for you. We have a sketch combined with a recipie, so nip over there to see what they are.

I've used the sketch on top of a box I've made. The image is one of the new 'sisters and friends' download collections available later today.

Scrapsketch Friday Challenge

Steph at Scrapsketch decided to give us all a quick sketch challenge (Friday to Sunday). Here's my entry for it using photos taken on my birthday when my youngest sister and I went to Cambridge. Title "Friends by choice" is from Elegant Word Art and I've printed it onto vellum. Journalling reads "Take time to pout and pose".

BLOOM and grow

I took this photo of my large bloom the other day and it's just as well I did. We had heavy rain and wind the day after, which destroyed it completely.

PP is Basic Grey. Isn't it just fabulous? It's so lovely, I didn't want to waste any, so I cut out the centre piece that would have been hidden by the photo to use on something else! Waste not, want not eh? This LO was done 'just because' but I've used ScrapSketch's #78 sketch. It had a lot of stitching on it, so I narrowed it down to stitching the frame to the PP and the PP to the Bazzill. Title was cut on my ROBO before inking, with the BLOOM word cut twice and layered.

Sketch This #86, Butterfly Crafts #11 and The Creative Type # 17

Sketch This  (#86) have a single photo LO for their latest sketch which I've turned on it's side.

The Creative Type (#17) challenged us to use numbers on a LO

What did I do? I pondered Butterfly Crafts challenge for a few days until it dawned on me that I loved Sleeping Beauty as a child. The photo of my youngest nephew was pefect for this. I cut the title on my ROBO using a free Disney style font. As for using numbers, I found I had a sticker that said '1 of a kind'.

Journalling reads "Kieran you are '1 of a kind'. You manage to sleep through a party, yet when you're in bed you hear a pin drop!"

I've given up trying to use the borrowed camera for photos of my craft, so have scanned this and pieced it together. As I don't have any fancy software it's a little (or a lot) hit and miss, so appologies for the look of the image. I hope it doesn't spoil it for you. I will be replacing all the latest photos with new ones once I get my camera back (or a new one).

Madison goes to France for Sketch Saturday

This is the latest sketch from Sketch Saturday and they said: "as you can see, all squares this week! (of course you can use other shapes if you wish to)".

I've printed Madison onto watercolour paper and coloured her with my Prismacolours. I've also used blooms in place of the squares. And yes, I am cutting up my blooms a bit now. I've realised that by doing so, I get to use one bloom in more than one place which can only be a good thing.

Dottie's World Sketch Challenge

Karen set the challenge on Dotttie's World last Sunday and is giving away a fabulous prize too.

I used my new ROBO to design the scallops and cut the poppy paper, but had the paper the wrong way up. If you look hard enough you'll see that I've turned and flipped the sketch and elements a bit so that everything fits in.

The image from the Girls About Town Collection, has been coloured with Prismacolours. I got brave and tried them on a card I'm giving away. I need more practice, that's for sure.

Sketch This #79

Sketch This have a new sketch on their blog ~ #79. Handy really because I just fancied losing myself in some scrapping and didn't have a clue what I wanted to do. I saw the sketch and started looking for a couple of photos. Well, one kept drawing my eye and was almost screaming at me, so I gave up and went with it.

The photo is of one of my Mum's cousin's on his wedding day 22 years ago this year. This morning his wife died suddenly and her death has rocked us all. If she was ill even she didn't know about it as she would have talked to Mum. My thoughts and love are with Frank and everyone who knew Ann. She was a ray of sunshine and so loved. She and Frank were always smiling no matter what. They were so hard working on their farm too, yet had time for anyone and everyone. I know Ann will be missed by so many people.

I can't do much, but here's my tribute to the lady that brought happiness into the lives of so many and to the gentleman who found her, captured her heart and gave her his.

Also, today would have been my Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary. Love you both to pieces and miss you so much Dad.

I came across a blog the other day (BASB) and thought I'd have a go at the latest challenge. They challenged you to scrap what irks you. So, after a little forgetfullness, I went with what gripes me, but it's the same thing isn't it?

Seaside Fun

I went to warmer and sunnier climates for the challenge on Dottie's World. Karen set the challenge last Sunday and said:

"I would like to see a download, or downloads, interacting in some way with a picture of either the recipient or "something else". So it doesn't have to be a picture of a person but it must be a real photograph, and not just clipart etc. You could of course just do a layout and that would cover the requirements; it's up to you."

So, using a sketch from Pencil Lines, and photos from the 70's I came up with this

The tag goes behind the third photo and just needs the year adding, which I'm hoping Mum can remember.

I made this card on Wednesday night for last Saturday's Sketch Saturday prize challenge and only just got to upload my entry. Am I in time to be entered for the goodies? We'll see, but I quite like the card I made anyway, so .............

Papers are all from My Mind's Eye Bohemian Paper Pack and the image is stamped in Stazon onto an inked piece of card. Card is completed with a rub-on sentiment.

Christmas and Birthday

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards' Challenge Sketch on Monday was this

So, a Christmas and a Birthday card with it. Here's what I made:

I've made pockets inside this card and popped the green card in there just to show you. At this stage, I have no idea what I'm going to put in them, but I know that I'll come up with something. maybe a stamped and watercoloured image on one side and the wording on the other? A lovely poem perhaps? I'll be sure to show you when I've done it though. And yes, I have noticed the pink ink on the inside! I'm going to use the ink to add a distressed look to the white of the card before I give it away. Mistakes happen for a reason.

Close up of Punk George

I water-coloured George (from the Rock & Roll Collection and available from Charmed) using my brush markers before sticking him onto the card with foam pads and adding doodled musical notes and some ribbon. I've distressed the edges of the card plus George's guitar. Well, he is a hard rocking punk after all.
