Bingo Anyone?

No, it's not a game of Bingo unfortunately, but I have altered a Bingo board I bought on Monday.

To start, I coated all the sides with a mix of brown, white and black acrylic paint and used a crumpled piece of kitchen tissue to sort of stipple it. Then, I added some red ribbon and tied a couple of short strands of brown fibre near the knot.

I used Karen's masking tutorial to stamp the images (Annie collection by Lou and Karen and exclusive to Charmed) onto 260gsm card. Thanks for the instructions Karen, it worked a treat. These were coloured using my Prisma pencils and blending pencil. Not sure what I think to it, but I still haven't made some of the paper stumps. After cutting the images I stuck them down using foam pads. To make sure they stuck well, I added a drop of PVA glue to the side that would be sticking to the paint.

The wording was cut on my ROBO, stuck with PVA and doodled on.

The only sad thing, is that some or all of it will be covered with the paper I clip there reminding me of things 'TO DO'.

Creative Therapy #62

I found this blog the other day and made a note of the current catalyst (#62). Here's what they said

"show us your therapeutic art around "What's a personality trait you admire/seek in others? Why? ... It can be any form of art as long as it speaks to you."

Sounded easy at first. Do a LO of my mum with the words 'caring, loving, thoughtful, gentle, strong, considerate, kind, trusting, friend'. Easy, except that I usually do LOs and had been given the nudge to do something different. I sat at my craft desk for what seemed like ages until inspiration struck. I had bought a few canvases last September and done nothing with them. I'd only ever used one canvas in my life (here), could I make it two?

Pondering some more, I took my acrylic paint and 'went for it'. Here's the result (please excuse the different shades as I'm having to scan and jigsaw it togther using a very simple editing programme as I don't have my camera or fancy programmes on my computer)

The writing's done with a black permanent pen and the charms/photo turn each have a word on them 'strength / friend / hope / trust'.

It's not how I imagined it in my head, but it's still not as bad as I thought it would be. Would I paint a canvas again? I have 2 more this size and 3 12x12 ones, so who knows?

Don't forget that there's at least one personality trait that others see and like in each and every one of us. We are all great in our own way. If you can see in yourself a little of what others see in you, you're doing well.

Just Jeans for an Altered S

I fancied having a go at doing some altered art yesterday, so I used my ROBO to cut 16 A5 size S's using light weight card. Repositioning spray adhesive came in very handy for sticking them together and after lightly sanding the edges, I got to decorate it. Might make more things like this in the future.

I was inspired by My Time To Craft's latest challenge 'Just Jeans' and mixed acrylic paints to a denim colour for the base, over which I've used a cream ink pad to give it a distressed look. My name is also cut on my ROBO and has been inked and doodled on. I finished with a mix of blooms, brads, lace and fibres

60th Crafting

I'm going to a surprise 60th party this evening for a dear family friend. He's a carpenter and loves painting, so I decided to do him an altered canvas. Here are the results of that and the card I have made him.

Birthday Crafting

It was my friend Jo's birthday on Monday and is her DS's 2nd birthday Wednesday (28th & 30th). So, I made 2 cards and altered another magnetic peg. The words on her card say "I'm ready for anything".
